STATEN ISLAND, NY – Members of the Travis 4th of July Parade Committee are making plans for the 112th annual Staten Island 4th of July Independence Day Parade, which will take place rain or shine.
The parade celebration will begin with a noon ceremony at the grandstand in front of PS 26 at 4108 Victory Blvd.
Walkers descend at 12:30 p.m. from the Showplace Entertainment Center, 141 East Service Rd., down Victory Boulevard to the Examination Stand.
The parade, which would be the country’s longest-running Independence Day celebration, will once again be filled with cartoon characters, live bands and vintage cars.
This year, hoteliers Lois and Richard Nicotra, owners of the Nicotra Group, are teaming up with the Travis 4th of July Parade Committee to organize a fundraising event to help alleviate the cost of the parade.
The event is scheduled for Friday, May 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Commons Cafe located at 2 Teleport Drive in Bloomfield’s Corporate Park, where 100% of proceeds from the cafe will be donated to Travis’ 4th of July celebration. Committee.
Gift basket draws will be on the agenda as well as games of chance, including a 50/50.
Any catering orders placed at the Commons Cafe by Thursday for Friday pickup will also benefit the cause.
