Of all modern Pinocchio Projects in the works, director Robert Zemeckis’ next Disney feature has always been a favorite to capture people’s imaginations, if only because of the studio’s history with the iconic fairy tale. . Whereas PinocchioThe first Zemeckis trailer only gives you a glimpse of what Zemeckis has in store for audiences, it’s a strong sign that the film will be able to recreate at least some of the magic of the original animated feature. .
PinocchioThe first trailer for features only a small glimpse of the titular living toy (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as his puppet-maker father Geppetto (Tom Hanks) carves him out of a block of wood for the first time. What you see, however, is the time, attention and love that Geppetto puts into making his handmade son and how his fateful wish on a star for the puppet to come to life is granted by the benevolent Blue Fairy (Cynthia Erivo).
The trailer’s handful of quick shots establish just how much of a focus the film will have on Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) as he meets characters like Sofia the Seagull (Lorraine Bracco) and “Honest” John Worthington Foulfellow ( Keegan-Michael Key), a well-talking fox. What is interesting is that, even if this Pinocchiois very much a live-action film, its fantasy tale characters have all been rendered more or less like “realistic” versions of their classic Disney cartoon counterparts, which is sure to be an aesthetic choice that the Die-hard fans don’t have strong feelings about when the movie will hit Disney Plus on September 8th.
