Love is War announces upcoming anime

Kaguya-sama: Love is war has officially ended its third season along with many other new anime from the Spring 2022 Anime Schedule, and the franchise has announced plans for its next big anime project to celebrate! The anime taking on Aka Akasaka’s original manga series has been a huge hit with fans in its three seasons so far, but while there’s been more momentum than ever in the finale of the third season, there’s still plenty of ground to cover for the anime adaptation if it chooses to use that material.

The third season of the anime, officially titled Kaguya-sama: Love is war – Ultra romantic –, ended with a one-hour special final episode that seemingly ended the anime’s story. While the broadcast itself still teased that this could be the end of the anime as a whole, the series’ official Twitter account has already announced that the franchise’s next anime is already in the works. Unfortunately, there are no details about the type of new anime project yet.

While the original manga series has gone way beyond the events of the third season at this point, Ultra Romantic’s finale provides a happy closing point that could have served as the adaptation’s grand finale. Although it would have been incomplete, but it looks like the anime franchise is gearing up for some of the big events that will come next in the manga. There’s plenty of material to adapt with a full fourth season (and even a fifth season), but there’s also a chance the anime could dive into an original ending with a feature film.

It will be some time before we find out what kind of anime plans Kaguya-sama: Love is War has for its future, so if you wanted to catch up with the franchise, you can find all three seasons of the anime series streaming with Crunchyroll. What do you think? What did you think of Kaguya-sama: Love is war’s finale for season 3? Could this be a potential finale for the anime franchise as a whole? What do you hope to see next?
