moon knight introduced the world to a whole new kind of superhero, with alternate personalities and identities and a complex story. In fact, the story that Marc Spector was teased to have within the moon knight The series on Disney+ matches the character’s origin story on the pages of Marvel Comics. Although not shown in the series, references to Marc Spector acting as a mercenary engaged in a mission where an innocent archaeologist is killed despite Marc’s refusal to perform the deed came into play. led to Marc being left for dead by Bushman, eventually saved by Khonshu with Moon Knight’s powers. Turns out Bushman was considered more than a name in the moon knight series.

“Absolutely. yeah. We talked to Bushman. We talked to everyone,” moon knight executive producer Grant Curtis said on the Phase zero podcast when asked if the series plans to introduce Bushman. “What we did, one of the initial tasks, was to go through and read all the comics that he appeared in. So we were reading west coast avengers. We read all the different moon knights and try to see if there is a problem that we absolutely want to make like our series? And what we found was that there was no particular problem or particular race. It’s really those tones and themes that have been written so amazingly over the decades that we wanted to highlight. And you know those tones and themes because I know you love comics. But it’s this globe-trotting action adventure, very IndianaJones-ish. This is the Egyptology inherent in the origin story of Marc Spector and Khonshu. It’s the spooky gritty that makes Marc Spector sing in Moon Knight and Steven Grant and Jake Lockley, bless you. And so cool. And it’s also the comedy that’s in this series.”

Bushman is one of Moon Knight’s villains in the comics and it looks like he could be part of the character’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having his face cut off and providing a haunting appearance. Series writer Jeremy Slater shed some light on the character, as far as he is concerned. “I don’t know if he still has his face. That’s a good question,” Slater said. “He’s definitely still there. And I think at some point in Moon Knight’s journey, you’re going to have to involve Bushman.”

Slater, a fan of the comics, really wanted to see Bushman play a role. “I tried really hard to fit him into a few different versions of Bushman. And there were just a lot of reasons why he wasn’t great as an antagonist for that first story,” the writer said. . “The main thing was just that we had to start from Steven’s point of view. It was something that I really believed in from the start, is that you’re never going to make people fall in love with Marc, unless you ‘they don’t fall in love with Steven first.

As for season 2 of moon knight, Curtis has no news on that front yet. The producer is heading to the Fantastic Four movie following this work on the Disney+ series. The news of season 2 is a “Kevin [Feige] question,” according to Curtis. “I want to see where this character lands. He’s an incredible character, written and drawn so well over the years, embodied by Oscar on screen. Like I said, I’ll put all my chips on it. I’ll go.”
