Although Charles and Edwin have been dead best friends for what seems like forever and have worked together as detectives for decades, they’ve never encountered ghosts like the ones they find in The Sandman Universe: Dead Boy Detectives. The boys begin to investigate the disappearance of a Thai American girl from her Los Angeles home and encounter some truly terrifying spirits, including a bloodthirsty krasue (likely based on the Cambodian legend of a nocturnal woman’s spirit that wanders aimlessly, looking for victims to feed on. ).

To make matters worse, Charles and Edwin could separate, which could be devastating for both of them.

Meanwhile, The Sandman Universe: Dead Boy Detectives will also follow the witch Thessaly, who is held hostage by life and ego-threatening magic near the boys’ investigation. She won’t let this last long, and it seems likely that the characters’ paths will cross, which could draw Charles and Edwin on his mission for revenge or draw her into their mystery.

Charles and Edwin first appeared in 1991’s The Sandman #15, and they’ve appeared in several comics and manga since. They even appeared in Doom Patrol Season 3 on HBO Max, played by Sebastian Croft and Ty Tennant. In April, HBO Max announced a full series, Dead Boy Detectives, which doesn’t appear to have fallen victim to Warner Bros.’ recent merger. Discovery.

It’s unclear whether these characters will appear on Netflix’s The Sandman, or whether or not the Dead Boy Detectives series is moving forward on HBO Max. The good news is that the new comic book series is happening.

The Sandman Universe: Dead Boy Detectives #1 will be available on December 27.
