Sound Euphonium Season 3 Slated For 2024, New Anime Project Announced

Season 3 of Sound! Euphonium (Touring bike! yufoniamu) is planned for 2024, as previously announced. The season 3 anime project was first announced in 2019 and it will revolve around Kumiko Oumae as she attends the third year of school. An announcement video was uploaded on the Kyoto Animation channel:

In addition to the Season 3 release date, Sound! Euphonium also announced a new anime project titled Ensemble Contest Arcwhich will have a theatrical screening in 2023, as well as a Blu-ray release.

A summer concert for the animated franchise Sound! Official concert of the Euphonium brass band! will be held at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA in Tokyo from August 13 to 14 this year.

The anime is based on Ayano Takeda’s light novel series. The manga adaptation was serialized on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Webmagazine. The TV anime series has two seasons, both of which were animated by Kyoto Animation. They aired from April to July 2015 and October to December 2016 respectively. The franchise also offers two animated films – Liz and the Bluebird and Sound! Euphonium: The Movie – Our Promise: A Brand New Day, released in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Both were animated by Kyoto Animation. Liz and the Blue Bird serves as a spin-off to the television anime’s second season.

Yen Press authorized Sound! Euphonium‘s novels in English and describes it as follows:
Finding yourself, one note at a time… After a terrible disappointment at the All-Kyoto Concert Band Competition, the music lost its spark for Kumiko. But his freshman year at Kitauji High School is an opportunity for a fresh start. So when it comes time to pick a club, she can’t resist joining the group again, even though they’re just terrible. The club’s strict new manager has promised to get them into shape to reach the national championships, but the problem goes deeper than just a lack of training. Also, the discord within the club tugs at Kumiko’s old insecurities. Will Kitauji High find its rhythm ahead of the competition? Does Kumiko?
