“As long as you and your team stand firm, you are never hopeless,” Sir Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard intones in the trailer for the final season of Star Trek: Picard which just dropped at Comic-Con.
As you can see above, featuring an array of characters from the legendary Star Trek: The Next Generation series joining their captain on what appears to be his final mission, the one-minute peek at the upcoming third season of picard was the crescendo in many ways of today’s Hall H gathering. After first igniting the cavernous venue in 2019 with Stewart’s return to picard’s first SDCC panel, Saturday was kind of a full circle for the x-men vet, his crew, past and present, and the show’s EPs in the 2022 Trekverse mega-panel.
Filmed following the now completed Season 2, the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard is slated to launch on Paramount+ next year.
To this end, with Stewart, GNT veterinarian Gates McFadden, EP Rod Roddenberry on stage, picard Executive producer and Trekverse overlord Alex Kurtzman revealed individual cast previews for Season 3 today.
Artwork featuring character portraits of Stewart, McFadden, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd, who also featured in the trailer, was presented to the Hall crowd H with great fanfare.
It was announced in April that the GNT actors, some of whom have already been part of picard in previous seasons, would be part of the final season. , Brent Spiner, who played Data on GNT and was in season 1 and 2 of picardwill also be back for season 3.
Says Kurtzman about brining The next generation crew together, this summit had to be earned according to Stewart’s suggestion.
“We didn’t want cameos, but serious roles,” Kurtzman told Hall onstage.
The creator continued, “At the start of the season, the crew are in different locations around the galaxy. Slowly we see them coming together.
“Patrick said ‘I want to do this show, I don’t want to repeat old stuff.'”
Into the villain that premiered this season, which Kurtzman has been silent on except to say she’s female; the writers’ room drew heavily on Kahn.
Star Trek: Picard is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. For the third season, Stewart, Kurtzman, Roddenberry, Akiva Goldsman, Terry Matalas, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Trevor Roth, Doug Aarniokoski and Dylan Massin serve as executive producers. Terry Matalas is on board as showrunner for the 10-episode final season.
Back in person for the first time since 2019, Comic-Con 2022 ends tomorrow.
