In beautiful unofficial DC Comics artwork of Elsa Carter featuring Swamp Thing and Abby Arcane, the character’s relationship gets a well-deserved spotlight. As part of her Patreon offerings, Carter shared a mini print she made where she captured the beauty of the pair’s iconic romance. The Swamp Thing art is elegant and shows the softer side of the hero, who is often maligned for his monstrous appearance.

Swamp Thing is one of DC’s most memorable heroes, first appearing in House of Secrets #92 by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. However, the hero would soon have his own ongoing series, where DC Comics revealed Alec Holland’s tragic origin. After nearly being killed in an explosion, Holland, a scientist, would jump into the swamp, where he would be transformed into the Swamp Thing after the combination of his experiments and the Green changed him forever. While learning the true nature of his existence in Alan Moore’s run on the hero, the Green Protector would fall in love with Abby Arcane, whom he would later help save from death, reclaiming her soul. The couple’s romance and relationship is iconic for DC Comics, as Arcane sees the true beauty of the Swamp Thing, despite how it looks.
